A Quilt for Little Bird

A couple of months ago, I decided I wanted to make a snuggle quilt for Little Bird to use when she goes to bed or wants to cuddle or needs comfort, etc. I decided to use only fabrics that I already had (some of them might look familiar from previous projects).   I didn't want it too complicated because I wanted to get it done before we took a trip. So I found this pattern and made it a little wider so it would be a square. In the end I made two quilts (so they could take turns being washed). I quilted it with meandering flowers and they are each 45x45 in. Little Bird loves to snuggle up into her blanket when it is time for bed.

Babycakes

My most recent accomplishment, an ombre pink rose first birthday cake. And it was demolished with joy by LB.

Peacock

We have a little friend who loves animals. So for her birthday I made her a peacock mask. I think it turned out pretty cute and may have to make a few more.

International Quilting Day

This past weekend I got to go to another quilt away and it happened to be over International Quilt Day. Once again I participated in the mystery quilt with the group I sit with. This time it had 13 steps (even more if you count the fact that some of the steps were multiple parts). I got everything but the borders done in the first day (at about 1:30 am). It was fun to see how everyone's fabric choices turned out.

The second day I got a lot of squares done for another quilt and got the borders on. It was fun to see the different projects that other quilters were working on.

And it was fun to have Little Bird come for a visit too. Julie showed her some quilting tools and let her play with some of her fabric squares. Who knows, some day LB may be a quilter too.

Hope Valley--House of Mercy

I finally finished the quilt I had agreed to do for the House of Mercy auction. It turned out to be a much different experience than I had planned on. Not really my style of pattern or palette  But it is finished and has been picked up. And it apparently is just right. I have definitely learned my lesson here though. 65 x 90

Merry

This year with the addition of Little Bird to the family, we needed new stockings so hers could match. So for weeks leading up to Christmas I was cutting and sewing tiny little quilt pieces. She didn't give me a whole lot of time to get them done. But finally at 3am Christmas morning, they were finished enough to use. I must be crazy.

Quilting Away

Last weekend I went to the quilt away nearby, like I did last year. I got a lot of sewing done and had a good time again. I did the mystery quilt "Mystery at the Ranch" along with a few other people. Some of the steps were pretty tedious (like sewing 80 HSTs) but the quilt looks pretty neat in the end. It is neat how different all of our quilts look because of our fabric choices. Mine is the one in the bottom left, with the bright modern fabrics.

I was so glad that Caleb brought Little Bird by for a visit. She is such a cutie pie and was smiling and showing off for everyone. That was the one bad part, being away from her for so long. But since I went home at night, I still got a little birdie time each day.
